About this series
How can the complex constellations of relationships, embodied in astrological systems, be used to map and transform interpersonal and organizational conflicts?
Do you find yourself engaged in repeating conflict dynamics with partners, coworkers, family and so on? Do you find your work in and between organizations to be fraught with communication blockages, painful conflicts and insecurity?
In this series, we’ll come together and explore how to evolve our perspectives of conflict to better hold different needs, energies, expressions and timing, while also discerning where habit and harm can be dispelled and transformed.
Overview
We will investigate our own charts along with synastry (relationship) and transit (timing) charts to map some of the interpersonal and organizational conflicts we’ve experienced. Diving into the patterns, intensities and necessities of conflict, we’ll explore ways to move closer to wholeness and resolution in our own energy and needs, and in our relationships and organizational dynamics.
Each workshop will focus on a different levels of conflict and relationship - personal, interpersonal, and large scale/organizational/historic.
Harnessing the energies of Mercury’s retrograde in Sagittarius and its subsequent tryptic of squares to Saturn in Pisces, we will engage astrology as a tool and practice for perspective-shifting, facilitating and reframing conflicts.
Session Overviews
Session I (Nov 7, 2024): Fight Fire with Water - Conflict Styles & Astrological Make Up
In this session we will introduce and review some fundamental frameworks and theoretical background from the field of conflict transformation and explore different strategies we can use in engaging and disengaging from conflicts, including insights from the practice of Aikido. We will then connect these frameworks and strategies to the ascendant/descendant axis in astrological charts, and to the elemental modalities of the signs, identifying how these influences shape conflict styles, and how our charts can help us to widen our tool-kits and increase our flexibility as we engage conflict.
Session II (Nov 14, 2024): Fight, Flight, Insight - Personal Planets in Conflict
How do we learn and practice fighting fairly? In this session we will approach conflict from the relational level, focusing on how our Mercury, Mars and lunar placements shape the ways we engage in communications, assertion and aggression, and withdrawal or self-protective strategies. We will also examine how we can turn unconscious habits into new pathways, and how to employ stakeholder mapping in relation to specific conflicts and our astrological makeup.
Session III (Nov 21, 2024): For Healing of the Nations - Generational Astrology, Personal Destiny and Transforming Collective Violence
In this session, we will widen our lens and consider collective patterns of violence. The outer planets can give us insights into the challenges of particular historical periods and the collective call of entire generations. By looking at links between our inner and outer planets, we will consider ways we might intervene in these patterns and take our places as cosmic and historical agents of justice, peace and beauty. Additionally, we will explore a few models of collective conflict transformation, Transformative and Healing Justice approaches and the ways astrology might support or catalyze our imagination as we evolve practices of collective repair.

About Ramon Gabrieloff-Parish
Ramon Gabrieloff-Parish is a lifelong star gazer, Afrofuturist philosopher, practicing astrologer, social artist and creative ceremonialist. His current project is to utilize the many outer planetary alignments of the 2020's as catalysts for imaginal, collaborative and institutional transformation.
In his day job as a chair of Naropa University’s Interdisciplinary Studies department he focuses on the intersections of equity and sustainability through courses on food and environmental justice. He also teaches foundations in contemplative learning and theory, embodiment, social identity, and conflict transformation.
Ramon is committed to community, cultural and cosmic regeneration, through his consulting work with Once and Future Green and with organizations like Golden Bridge, Youth Passageways and recently as board chair of Frontline Farming.
