Happy new moon!
Today, the Sun and Moon are in exact alignment with Neptune and Vesta in the middle of Pisces. Mercury stationed retrograde yesterday where, over the next three weeks, it will reverse its path in Pisces to the same degree of today’s new moon. Two weeks ago, in synchrony with the full moon in Virgo, Chiron made its final ingress into Aries where it will now travel through 2027. And, earlier this morning, Uranus made its final ingress into Taurus where it will now travel through 2026.
This is a powerful time for new beginnings and shedding old layers. The new moon’s alignment with Neptune and Vesta, and aspects to Mars, Saturn and Pluto in Taurus and Capricorn suggest that changes we initiate now are supported, and that these changes will carry us far into the future. Dreams, vision and spiritual assistance are available. There are also significant openings in the collective psyche. Emotions that have been held and frozen in time can begin to thaw and release. We have the skills necessary to understand and process trauma. And, if we are open, we may find that we have vast reserves of talents and resources that we were previously unaware of, but which are now being made available through ancestral and psychic connection.
This new moon is a significant one for me personally. It aspects my chart in several ways suggesting that I find more sustainable, authentic and creative ways of working, giving and receiving. If you’ve been following Embodied Astrology, you’ll notice some changes with this episode. The first change you’ll notice is with the audio horoscopes. After the introductions which outline how each sign is affected by today’s astrology, the interpretation that follows is the same for every sign. This is because astrology is happening in the collective experience, and though it stimulates each sign differently, the invitations, openings and challenges will essentially be the same.
As I understand astrology to be a method for engaging with the embodiment of our evolution, I am interested in how it might give us tools to understand our simultaneous and connecting experiences. The new horoscope format is an experiment. Please send me feedback. Do the introductions help you apply the chart to yourself and for your loved ones? My hope is that through this shift I can open up personal time and space to more deeply engage with my study and cultivation of this craft, and that also, this format will help listeners connect with their horoscopes more relationally and with greater curiosity towards how astrology works. Today is also the first day I’ll release one of the tracks I’ve been working on for almost three years with my friend and collaborator Jean Paul Jenkins. In the summer of 2016 we spent a week together in the Mojave Desert creating zodiac soundscapes from field recordings and handmade instruments made of Earth elements. In the background of the guided meditation made for this Pisces new moon, you’ll hear the first completed track of this project. I’m excited to continue working with JP. Finally, I’m excited to offer some new classes and workshops…
Today’s ingress of Uranus into Taurus signifies a necessity to shift our values and relationships to materiality. How we break from systems that are rooted in oppressive and inequitable structures will have to be experimental, emergent, empathic and creative. I don’t how we make these shifts, but I’m eager for them. In May I’ll offer the next iteration of Elemental Economics. This class/workshop/process uses astrology, art-making and somatic practice as entry points to engage with wealth and resources. We’ll work collaboratively to process and shed our conditioning around money, capitalism and value, and will learn how astrology can be an aid in strategizing new systems. Chiron was discovered in 1977 and is thought by many to be one of the astrological symbols most closely related to depth psychology and intergenerational trauma and healing. Its influence acts to bring awareness and aid in resolution of unprocessed trauma, which then reveals our own healing gifts and capacities for subtle/psychic connection with ancestral lineages. As Chiron begins its 8-year transit of Aries, it returns to astrological territory it last touched 1968-1977. In my upcoming class, Reconnecting the Separated Self, I’ll explore the influence of Chiron for every sign and the ways we might connect with this transformative energy in our lives.
